The Autodrome arena in Motor City gives you the chance to be part of an exhilarating experience that often goes overlooked - The chance to drive a BMW M3 on the professional FIA sanctioned 5.39km circuit track! Opposite from where the spectator stands are far away from where the civilian crowd views from, you enter a garage complex from a quiet back entrance that houses some high performance machines that are far from quiet.
Residents of Motor City are very familiar with the echoes of zooming race cars from the track that reverberate throughout the community. You can actually get a full experience of the thrill that comes from making the cars zoom first hand.
You start with a pleasant check in experience and video tutorial with your guide, who just happens to be a professional race car driver. After checking out all of the resting supercars that are lined up in all colours and sizes you jump into the driver's seat of your BMW with your instructor. The first lap you are told to take slow so you can get a feel of the track. You are shown the bends and turns and advised further on when to brake and accelerate.
For the next six laps you are given a free hand and let loose on the circuit. We were the only car on the track that day so it was nice to let my guard down and just concentrate on each and every turn that came before me. You get a feel of BMWs performance by pushing the M3 to its limits that you would not even get near to on regular roads. You really begin to appreciate the braking power of the vehicle when you are going 210 kilometers per hour! More so than the straight line speed the real fun is how it handles the corners. For the last lap you switch seats with your instructor and he shows you how a professional does it - quickly you realize how you didnt even come close to pushing the BMW to its limits!
